Chapter Challenge Term 1 Week 5 Away with Words

This is my Chapter Challenge post. This week I did Away with words for Away with Words this week, was to make and create a letter from Ma to the Santander kids, if they could keep in contact. My plan from the start was to make a homemade envelope, and make a hole to tie a knot with some string in it to make in hang so then you can see both sides. Then I keep-ted thinking how am I going to make the mane letter look old, because this book was set a long time ago because they had to use trains to travel, to place to place. Anyways I searched on the internet and I saw that you can surprisingly make anything look old with, a tea bag and just smear it so I did. But before I did any thing I crunched it up because it give that older affect. I think that I have made Super Nova because I made a homemade envelope and also made it look old also. I think I was the only one that used a envelope. Guess what has happend in the book! So they found this village then they also found a smithy, a smithy is a place that makes horse shoes, then they talked to the smithy owner then they stole there donkeys because they needed a way to travel faster, they had horse's but horse's aren't as strong as donkeys. The two donkeys names are dumpling and trickle I think. Everybody was leaving marks so Ma, can find them. But the donkey were  leaving... POO that's right poop!

Chapter Challenge Term 1 Week 4 Research Centre.

                                                      Research Centre
This is my first Chapter Challenge post for this Term. I enjoyed creating my task for this week, because I got to do a little bit of everything, like creating my master peace Super Nova and learning along the way. By Researching as well. If your wondering what a Super Nova is, it is a type of rating in our class like for one type of rating, is a Simple Star a simple star is like yes you have finished, but have you really finished it. Then theirs a Shooting Star and yea you made it a bit better, but could you make it more than just cool. Then there is a SUPER NOVA which is like WOW you have gone back, and have done more than asked to do you're made in 100% better. Anyways now that you know that that's why I think I have created and have made a Super Nova Chapter Challenge Task. Most of the things I used to create my Chapter Challenge was Kliko, Blue Tack, Paper, Pencils, Colouring in pencils and Sharpies. The thing I found most challenging was putting the facts into my own words, because if you copy  exactly the same thing of the internet that is called copyright which is illegal. The book that we are reading for this year is Mapmakers race. It is about this family that was on a train, then one of the kids went of to go and buy something but did not come back, so then the Mother went to go and find the boy/kid then, the boy came back and then the train started moving faster and faster, then the kids were scared and nervous all the kids names are Joe, Francie, Sal, Humphrey and all together they are the Santanders Family. I will tell you more about them in a little bit. Then they thought should we pull the emergency button or not but if it was not a bad emergency then you had to pay 25 coin and they were a pretty poor family and there Mum had all the money as well long story short they have entered a Mapmakers race to try and win the money to find there mum and then also all the other teams are Monte"s Mountaineers, Cody's cowboys, Association of Women Explorers, Solemn Team, Roger’s Ruffians and then the Santanders Family. Then they start...

This is what I made

Tamzin's Whanau Star or Visual Pepeha Star.

Over the last week I have been working on my visual pepeha.

I am proud of the supernova effort I have put into my Whanau star.

What I found challenging was making all my Whanau pictures, fit on the back of my star. Because all of the pictures could not hang out of the star. But my Mum and I surprisingly made them all squashed in the star.

I worked with my Mum, Ihi, Stephanie and Anna (Ihi's Mum). We all created our whanau stars. My Mum made funny jokes while gluing, our pictures on our star which made me smile.

First Blog Post!

The activity I have enjoyed the most this week was the Summer Something. The Summer Something
is a task that the teachers have made up. We got given a bundle of newspaper and one roll of sellotape,
it was really challenging but my group got through it. We made one Ice cream of newspaper and tog
shorts out of newspaper.

A goal I have for myself this year is to put my hand up more often to get out of my comfort zone
because usually I don’t like to put my hand up so I want to try to move out of my comfort zone.

What I am most looking forward to this year is meeting new people, and getting to know the new
students in the Whetu team.

How I aim to show our NPS ICARE this year, is to help everybody in my class when they need it,
especially the year fives because they are new to our, class and they do not know much about Whetu.
This year I will be a role model and the leader.

Whetu Christmas Count Down Wreath. Third Task.

This is my Third task for the Christmas Count down. For the options you had to try and recreate was a Wreath that you had to try and recreate like I said. I chose to do this Wreath because it looked unique to me. I tried my best creating a wreath on google drawings the hardest part was making the bow, because every time I attempted making the bow it would always go wrong, like it would blow up because I forgot to make it connect to the end part and, many other issues but I finished making the bow. You may be wondering how I made the top part "Original and My Own", I used the wonderful tool called word art. I have used it before but I wanted to use it again to make it go Kaboom and pop! I hope you got a tip of of google drawings.

Christmas Count Down Research about Santa. Second Task

Here is my second task for Whetu Christmas Count down. Where the information is I tried making Christmas presents, and I think they look pretty close to Christmas presents. For the options you had for Research was technically all the same, you just had to research about a country and what they do and how they celebrate, Christmas but one of them was different you could research about facts animals and all of that. I like how my facts have turned out and how I thought out of the box doing Christmas presents to show my information. Just remember its time to get in the Christmas spirit to have some Christmas fun learning about Santa!

Christmas Count Down Wrapping Paper! First Task

For this Week the teachers made a Digital Christmas Calder, and every week we get knew tasks I think.  This task is make your own Christmas wrapping paper, but the options you had was make lines of Christmas trees, make rotating Santa's or a kiwiana theme. If you do not know what Kiwiana means it means, things that you can only find in NZ. I chose to do the lines of Christmas trees. For the first set of tress I attempted to make Christmas lights, I think I did pretty good they look pretty realistic. Then for the second set of tress I did ornaments the big ones have pictures and the small ones just have, blended colours. I love how my Christmas wrapping paper turned out and I hope my whanau will like it too, because that's there wrapping paper for this year.

{Chapter Chat - Listening Device}

This week for Chapter Chat there were a lot of options and it was hard to choose just one. But the one that popped out for me to do was the...
